We’ve picked the top 5 up and coming fresh, new faces who are making their way to the West End stage! Some already have a CV that any actor would be proud of!
Jonathan BaileyAt only 23, Jonathan Bailey is well on his way to becoming a big star. Currently starring in South Downs, Jonathan is no stranger to the stage. He has already played Prince Arthur in the Royal Shakespeare Company’s King Arthur and has been in hit Channel 4 comedy series ‘Campus’. Jonathan has a pretty impressive CV for someone so young, he is sure to be destined for great things! We wonder what we will see him in next…

Kyle Soller Kyle is an American actor, now based in London after training at RADA. He made his theatre debut in 2008 in The Beautiful People and has since gone on to play Tom Ripley in The talented Mr. Ripley and is currently in Long Day’s Journey Into Night at the Apollo Theatre. He also won Outstanding Newcomer at the Evening Standard Theatre Awards in 2011.

Hannah John-Kamen
Hannah has been thrust into the spotlight thanks to the recent announcement that she will be playing Viva, in the hotly anticipated Spice Girls inspired musical, Viva Forever!  She also starred in Charlie Brooker’s controversial series, Black Mirror and popular drama Misfits. Viva Forever! is already tipped for success, so there is no doubt that Hannah’s starring role will open the door to even more opportunities!
Lucy May Barker
This young actress is truly remarkable. At only 20, she has played the title role in Annie during the two year UK tour, as well as Mercy Lewis in The Crucible. Currently she can be seen at the Adelphi Theatre playing Johanna in Sweeney Todd, alongside the wonderful Imelda Staunton and Michael Ball.  What an amazing career she has already had! Just what else is she be capable of in the next 20 years?!

Alistair Ryle
He has been given rave reviews for his current role as Leo Bill in Laura Wade’s play, Posh. Like Soller, Ryle also trained at RADA and has had much theatre experience before his West End debut in Posh such as roles in Beautiful Thing and School for Scandal.  He has extensive experience in TV and film, most recently starring in The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo and Alice In Wonderland.
So theatre-lovers, watch out for these names. Over the last few months, we are seeing new, fresh talent in theatre acting, writing and producing from the likes of Laura Wade (writer of Posh) and Laura Tisdall (writer of new musical ‘The In-between”) among others.
This is so positive, as not only is it giving young people role models to look up to in theatre, but it dispels the claims that some have made over the relevancy of the theatre in the contemporary age. You just have to look at those featured in our list,  among many more, who are helping to keep theatre alive!
